PLEASE NOTE: As long as you are registered for this IFB, you will continue to receive these notices. If you plan to not respond to this IFB with a bid submittal, you may want to access the eProcurement Marketplace and mark "No Bid". Once you have done such, you will not continue to receive any notices pertaining to this IFB.

We have received the following requests for information and hereby respond to each:

(1) QUESTION. On addendum #11 agency responds kitchen hoods have a wood vent pipe that goes through the roof. I don’t think that is possible due to fire hazards. Please verify and will the existing vent pipes (most always metal) be reused or will recirculating range hoods (todays standard) be installed and disconnect the existing flues permanently.

AGENCY RESPONSE: The hood is metal. The reference to wood in Addendum # 11 is incorrect.

(2) QUESTION. The installation of new ceramic floors would prevent the resident from walking on the new kitchen floor for 2-3 days to allow the thin-set and then the grout to dry. Is everyone aware of that? No walking at all on new time for 2-3 days or damage will occur.

AGENCY RESPONSE: The installation of the kitchen tiles would prevent the residents from walking on the new tile from 24 to 36 hours. Residents are advised of such.

(3) QUESTION. The specs call for 10% of additional stock. That is an awful lot of extra tile.

AGENCY RESPONSE: The extra stock tile referenced in Section 1.3(D) of the specifications is reduced to 2%.

(4) QUESTION. The existing floors to remain (8” x 8” vinyl tile) may most likely void any warranty from the manufacturer or installer. Are you aware of that?

AGENCY RESPONSE: The existing 8” x 8” vinyl floor tiles are hardened to the floor and I good condition. Any loose vinyl floor tile should be removed. Contractor should be able to install new tiles on the existing hardened floor surface with the required warranty.

(5) QUESTION. Please clarify that existing base will be removed, tile installed to the wall, and old base will be reinstalled or new base will be installed. Is the base made of wood? Does the base then get painted?

AGENCY RESPONSE: The existing baseboard is to remain and not be removed. The new tiles would be installed clean cut to the base and cabinets. The existing base is made of wood.

(6) QUESTION. Please clarify that your intention is the new tile will be installed around the new lower or base kitchen cabinets, not underneath the new cabinets.

AGENCY RESPONSE: The new tiles would be installed clean cut to the floor cabinet and not under it. This is a change from Addendum #12.

(7) QUESTION. Do the kitchens get painted, walls and ceilings?

AGENCY RESPONSE: Painting of the kitchen walls and ceiling is not part of the Scope of Work. However, the contractor is responsible for repainting any damaged or scratched surfaces to match existing.

(8) EXTENSION OF DEADLINES. Due to problems that we have become aware of for some contractors that have been caused by the Federal government shut-down, and due to the fact that we have not previously been able to answer the immediate-preceding questions asked, the Agency hereby extends the following deadlines:

(8a) The Deadline to Ask Questions is hereby extended until 3:00 PM ET on Monday, January 28, 2019; and

(8b) The Proposal Submittal Deadline is hereby extended until 3:00 PM ET on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
