PLEASE NOTE: As long as you are registered for this IFB you will continue to receive these notices. (1) QUESTION. What is the gas pressure to the boilers?
AGENCY RESPONSE. The gas regulator was shown only if required. It was unclear during my field work what the existing gas delivery pressure was due to the age of the gas specialties. The existing gas serving the existing boilers should be sufficiently regulated and capable of handling the new load which is the same as the two boilers that are existing.

(1a) QUESTION. Drawing M201 says 2 PSI in the schedule and 5 PSI in the detail. Can the site confirm the building requirements?
AGENCY RESPONSE. Both can be used

(2) QUESTION. The notes in the boiler schedule call for 120V/1PH; however, only 208V/3PH is available from Lochinvar. Can you please change this requirement? We confirmed 208V/3PH was available at a panel on site.
AGENCY RESPONSE. The boiler schedule clearly calls out for the boiler to be furnished with 208v/3 phase boiler power and a circuit indicating this requirement is shown on the plans. The 120v note is for the boiler control voltage only, NOT the boiler power.

(3) QUESTION. Does the existing pump need a new VFD as well? Or will the existing starter be used?
AGENCY RESPONSE. The existing pump is currently operational and shall remain as is with the exception of the new pipe connections and fittings to the pump.

(4) QUESTION. The existing expansion tank and air separator looked old and in need of replacement. A site technician even said that the expansion tank leaked. Do you want an addition price to replace this equipment as well?
AGENCY RESPONSE. The air separator and expansion tank were not part of this project.

(5) QUESTION. The existing boiler exhaust piping cannot be reused because it is tied into the same exhaust stack as the water heaters. The exhaust pipe needs to be ducted out on its own through the air inlet holes near the back service entrance. It will need to terminate at least 3’ about the height of the roof structure. Below is an example run that will need to be field confirm by the installing contractor and I’ve also attached a picture of the outside. Lochinvar is approved for CAT IV Polypro exhaust pipe which is what I would recommend for ease of installation.
AGENCY RESPONSE. Up until recently, all of the three original boilers shared the same breaching and operated fine. The new domestic water heater exhaust that the owner installed was connected into the breaching of an original boiler that was removed. The new boiler exhaust breaching can connect to existing breaching, serving existing boilers as shown on the plans. My intent was to try to get this new boiler installed as economically as possible with the least amount of cutting/patching and/or roof and wall penetrations.

(6) QUESTION. I would like the CCHRA to consider Patterson Pump Co. as an alternate to the basis of design ITT Bell & Gossett pumps. Please advise if you will allow.
AGENCY RESPONSE. Patterson is acceptable.
